Imagine giving your child a cup of water that you knew would probably make them sick. Imagine having nothing else to offer them. Now imagine having to walk 3 or 4 miles a day just to get that dirty water.

What can we do about it?

For starters, on September 10th, 2011, Lake Hills Church will be hosting Water Walk 2011. This event is open to the community, and will be held at the Ozark Community Center in Ozark, Missouri.
Participants will walk 2 to 4 miles, stopping along the way to fill containers of water and carry them back to the finish line.
Why would we do that?

To draw attention to the fact that millions of women and their children walk at least that far every day to get water for their families. Most of this water is contaminated, but it's the only water they have. They take the chance of catching diseases like bilharzia and schistosomiasis (parasites) - with every sip. There's nothing they can do to change it.

But there IS something we can do!

Our mission is to raise $5000 for water. That's enough to provide 250 people with clean water for 20 years!

Because of charity: water's unique model, 100% of all donations go directly to water projects, and when the project is complete - we'll be able to see it on Google Earth! We plan to raise at least $5000 during Water Walk 2011. Participants will take pledges beforehand, then we'll join together the morning of September 10th for the Walk. Come and join us!
