On September 25, I'm celebrating my 25th birthday. Aside from being a golden birthday (25 on the 25th), this year is extra special because I don't want presents, or a party.
Instead, I'm asking everyone that would have helped me celebrate to instead contribute to my charity: water campaign.
Why water? Like many people, I had no idea why clean water is such a critical issue worldwide. More people die from lack of clean water each year than all forms of violence, including war, combined. Nearly 800 million people worldwide (more than double the population of the US) do not have access to clean water.
Why now? Because on February 11, 2012 I made a commitment in front of my friends, family, and God to give up my birthday for water.
Why a $5000 goal? Because that's the average cost of a well. AND, we will all get our names on the community tap once it's built!
Why charity: water? Because every penny we raise will go directly to our well (not operating costs). And because charity: water will tell us exactly which well we funded once it's complete.
Please join me in making this birthday count by making a 100% tax-deductible donation of $25 (which is my age, and my birthday, but just a suggested amount).
If you have any questions, just let me know! Thank you from the bottom of my heart,
Alex
