Why Alex Hartigan is fundraising for clean water

Birthdays are always fun--ask my parents, I love love LOVE my birthday!

This year, I wanted to do something different than the typical cake/gifts/me.

SO I'M PLEDGING MY 23RD BIRTHDAY TO charity:water!

Instead of getting me any sort of gift this year (or card, or pizza or puppies, etc. etc.) I'd love for you to make a donation to funding clean water project with charity:water.

I picked $700 because with that $700, charity:water can provide clean water for 23 people...for my 23rd birthday...get it?

**UPDATE** That goal is REACHED. Y'all are incredible. New goal is $2,300 dollars (get that one? :P)

About 1,400 children die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation EVERY DAY.

The craziest part is that there are simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections and BioSand filters that provide clean water to communities around the world.

100% of the money from this will be used to build clean water projects, and when they’re complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the exact community we helped. SO DANG COOL.
