Introducing the first-ever London-based charity: water exhibition. The specially selected group of artists range from well-known names to emerging talent. Each has taken our iconic yet humble Jerry Can and turned it into a unique piece of art.

To celebrate the exhibition, we’ve partnered with The Other Art Fair, October 12-15th 2023. The show’s based in the Truman Brewery, right in the heart of London’s East End. Everyone is welcome to come and visit us at the fair - come say hi!

Serge Attukwei Clottey is a Ghanaian artist who uses everyday objects to create art that symbolises Accra’s cultural history and identity. ‘Afrogallonism’ is Clottey’s practice of using yellow gallon containers to inspire people to creatively recycle plastics.

‘WATER IS LIFE. WATER IS DANGER’ involves a procession that highlights the Jerry Can’s simultaneous symbolisation of a vital resource and water scarcity.

Jeppe Hein is a globally renowned artist whose experiential installations engage communities worldwide and encourage them to reflect on their integration with their surroundings.

Hein’s ‘Half Full Half Empty’ is a chrome-coated Jerry Can that hangs from the ceiling, creating the illusion that only the roof prevents it from soaring into the air.

Please note, if considering purchasing this piece, it has a reserve of £13,500.

Ben Eine is one of the most successful street artists worldwide, pioneering the exploration of graffiti letterforms and partnering with Banksy over the years.

Eine has spray painted a Jerry Can in signature bold colours, stencilling his name and title of the piece onto the artwork.

Laolu Senbanjo is a performance artist and activist who considers all things his canvas, taking inspiration from his Yoruba heritage.

‘Omi, Omi Leniyan’ explores the fluidity and interconnectedness of humanity with water, through Láolú’s unique technique, ‘the Sacred art of the Orí’.

Steve Gallagher is an art photographer specialising in intricate floral studies and stunning seascapes.

Gallagher photographed different angles of the Jerry Can and printed these onto glass sheets to form a box, creating the illusion that the Jerry Can is within.

Adah Parris is an anti-disciplinary artist, keynote speaker, and activist whose philosophy, ‘Cyborg Shamanism’, merges ancient wisdom with modern technologies.

Embracing Nsibidi, an ancient Nigerian writing system, Parris’ artwork narrates the story of Africa’s desertification driven by colonialism, capitalism, and climate change.

Balbinder Broadbent is a painter and printmaker who captures the metamorphosis of shape and intersecting forms with her abstract artworks.

Broadbent’s ‘Fish Out of Water’ depicts vibrant marine life with mixed media to highlight the importance of clean water for wildlife as well as humans.

Day Bowman is an abstract expressionist whose multimedia pieces tend to recreate the coastal landscape she grew up in.

Bowman’s ‘FULL FLOOD’ is a 3D interpretation of her 2022 painting that was used for a charity: water T-shirt collaboration, creating a kinetic effect with the wired-together pieces of Jerry Can.

Maliha Abidi is a multidisciplinary artist, and founder and creator of Women Rise NFT - a community initiative celebrating women through art.

Abidi’s Jerry Can features four portraits of women to celebrate the strength of the women fighting at the forefront of the global water crisis.

Caroline Banks is a mixed-media artist who explores the circularity of energy through paintings, installations, and body drawings.

Banks’ ‘Cascade’ preserves the functionality of her Jerry Can to highlight its importance, building complexity with layers of paint.

Carina Francioso is a fine artist known for her contemporary realist oil paintings that capture the beauty, power, and fragility of water, and her deep connection to it.

Francioso’s ‘Water is Life’ is mixed media on wood panel with resin, highlighting the work of charity: water and created as an emblem of hope.

Half-Asleep Chris is a YouTuber known for his stop-motion videos about Lego, culture, and building his cats’ crazy contraptions.

Chris’ ‘Time for Change’ is a coin mosaic made with over 100 currencies to represent the global community that helped him to fundraise over £49,000 for charity: water last year.

Claire Milner is an artist who combines abstraction and figuration, keeping environmental references central to her work.

Milner’s ‘The Source’ reflects the artist’s deep connection with Africa, as well as ‘The Spring’, charity: water’s monthly giving community.

Natalie Woo is an artist who works with individuals and organisations who care about culture to create vibrant, visual illustrations that celebrate diversity.

Natalie’s ‘Clean Water Crankie’ features a moving watercolour panorama of the celebration and story of water, framed by the Jerry Can.
