Field Notes

Before this freshwater well was built for the Kiboko Dispensary in Kibwezi, local people collected drinking water from a contaminated swamp. Now, the clinic (serving an area of at least 7,200 people) uses safe water and conducts sanitation training for locals. Surrounding residents and a nearby primary school also use the water. Residents and health care workers like 34-year-old Catherine Nduku are grateful to use safe, clean water.
