*Side note- I know $1689 is a very odd number to pick, but I have already raised $111 towards my overall goal, totaling $1800.

There are many things I could say I want for my 18th birthday. A tattoo, a new car, a radio or air conditioning in my existing car are all things I would love to receive, but I believe that since this year will be the first year of my adulthood, I want to do something big.

Life isn't about me. It isn't about what I want or what would benefit my life here and now. Life is about loving God and loving others, and so I want my celebration to reflect that.

I'm throwing a birthday party. For my party, do not buy me a gift. The gift I want is to impact the poor and needy of this world, the thirsty souls longing for one drink of cold water that won't poison them.

All too often, we say "I'm dying of thirst" but the thing is there is not one day of our lives where we go without being able to drink something. There are thousands of people that are dying every day because the water they have to drink from is foul and polluted. Its got millions of bacteria in every drop.

So please, I ask that you do something bigger than a lot of us ever have before. Impact the people who need it most. You'd want help if you were in their shoes, right?
