On November 24, I'm turning 18!
This is a big deal because I was born in Ethiopia where many people don't live to see their 18th birthday. Why? Because they didn't have clean water. As a little girl in Ethiopia, I had to walk about a mile to get water. We carried water back to our hut in clay pots. The water was very dirty. It came from a shallow river where people drank, bathed and watered their animals in the same spot. Many people got very sick from drinking this water. Some died.
This problem isn't just in Ethiopia: 1 out of 8 people living on the planet don't have access to safe, clean water.
I want everyone to have clean water like I do now that I live in America. So this year for my birthday instead of giving me a gift, I'm asking for $18 or more from everyone I know. If I can raise $5,000 that will be enough to dig a well that will give 250 people clean water!!!!
My goal is to raise $5,000 by my birthday on November 24.
Please consider helping me.
