Every day, 1,400 kids under the age of 5 die from water-related illnesses. You can help change that!
BONUS CAMPAIGN! The "Soggy Buns" fundraiser (my.charitywater.org/soggybuns) timed out before I expected. Oops! So I'm opening a new one so we can reach our goals!
Here's the deal. I'm competing in the Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest on July 4th, 2015. At the practice table, away from the crowds, there's very little incentive to eat 40 hotdogs - despite the fact that practice is vital to improving numbers and hitting personal bests. That's why I fundraise. Because thinking about that ONE person who has to walk miles every day, to get 5 gallons of contaminated, dirty water- and KNOWING that WE were able to help change their life forever - is the best motivation I can think of.
And because this is a bonus campaign, here's a bonus: You can get your donation matched! I'll be donating up to 100% of my Nathan's Prize Money - IF you follow the secret rules.*
Step 1: Listen to competitive eating podcast, Fink Beats the Stomach, and their post-Coney wrap up (starts at 25:00). http://heavyhitternetwork.com/e/fink-beats-the-stomach-episode-28-breakfast-of-champions/.
Step 2: Listen closely for my post-contest interview. I'll tell you the secret words that will get your donation matched, compliments of my 4th place finish at the Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest.
That means your money will do double the work and help twice as many people.
(**If you got your donation in before July 11, it will automatically be matched by my contest winnings)
Why donate to charity:water?
Many of us have no idea what it's like to be thirsty. We have plenty of water to drink -- even the water in our toilets is clean! (For the record, I've never drank from my toilet. Honest.)
But many people around the world don’t have that luxury. Every day, 1,400 kids die from water-related illnesses before they reach their fifth birthday. But it doesn’t have to be that way. There are simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections and BioSand filters that help provide clean water to communities around the world.
This fundraising campaign will help charity: water build these types of projects around the world, so I'm looking for anyone who can help me.
100% of the money will be used to build clean water projects, and when they’re complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the exact community we helped. That means every dollar you donate really does go towards making a difference.
WHAT ABOUT HOT DOGS?
These fundraisers mean the world to me. For each milestone where we raise enough to help 5 people, I make a YouTube video of a Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest training. My goal is to eat at least 33 hot dogs this year, and these trainings definitely help get me prepared to do so. Thanks for helping to kick my butt into gear! My wins really are your wins, too!
(late) Happy Birthday Michelle! Happy to donate to such a wonderful cause :)
Great work lady!
THANK YOU ALY!
