If you were like me growing up, you ate a lot of cheap frozen dinners. Sometimes they were 50 cents each, sometimes up to a dollar, but never more than that. You didn't exactly feel wealthy or full after eating them, but they were food, and you did in fact eat them.
Some of us know what it's like to be hungry, but many of us have no idea what it's like to be thirsty -- like truly thirsty. We have plenty of water to drink at the turn of a faucet handle-- even the water in our toilets is clean!
So that's why it's hard to think about the fact that every day, about 1,400 children die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. That there are people who walk miles daily for dirty water that makes them sick, because they have no other choice.
But it doesn’t have to be that way. There are simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections and BioSand filters that help provide clean water to communities around the world.
So today I am eating every type of Michelina's Frozen $1 dinner they had in the store, in hopes that we can all take a moment to reflect on the fact that even if that is all we have, we have a lot. And we can help others with even just the cost of one of these dinners. Join me, donate $1, donate $7 (a week's worth of Michelina's lunches) or donate $19 (the amount of Michelina's I am attempting to eat.
Please donate to my campaign -- anything you can give is a huge help.
100% of the money will be used to build clean water projects, and when they’re complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the exact community we helped.
Rock on.
For eating all that burnt plastic!
We are so proud to know you and to be able to support your generous spirit in this incredibly small way! Lots of love from SoCal!
