Hi! My name's Amy, I live in sunny South Africa, and on 8 December 2020 I'm turning 23 years old.
Instead of receiving gifts, I've chosen to pledge my birthday to charity: water to provide clean water for people. In short, charity: water is working around the world to end the water crisis, and all the money raised from this campaign will help them do just that.
100% of the money donated will be used to build clean water projects, and when they’re complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the exact community we served!
It costs $40 (just over R600) to provide clean water for one person. The great thing about the campaign is that you can donate whatever amount you want - even $1 (R15,31) will mean so much to me.
This year the importance of access to clean water - and the severe lack thereof - has become starker than ever because of COVID-19. This is one way we can make a real, lasting difference.
If you want to learn more about charity: water you can visit their website, or send me a message - I did my entire Honours treatise on the organisation last year, and can confidently say that they are doing the most amazing work, and I am so excited to be a part of it. I hope you are too xx
Happy birthday my previous Amy! Yet another example of how thoughtful, kind, generous and selfless you are!
HBD to me!
