The story behind this year's Live Drill > |
On September 7, we’ll turn four years old.
Thousands have already joined the September movement this year, raising money to fund water projects in Central African Republic. So far, we've raised $150,000 -- and all before the month of September. Learn about the September campaign here.

Tune in for the Live Drill.
when: September 7, 5 p.m. ET
where: charitywater.org/september |
As always, we're spending our birthday in the field, drilling the first well of the September Campaign live in Central African Republic (C.A.R.) next week. We prove completed water projects all year round, but this is special. We'll be broadcasting via satellite as the well is being drilled, so you can see exactly where your money is going.

Watch the story behind this year's Live Drill.
Moale Village is a special place. We visited there a few months ago, and got to know the incredible people living there. They've been waiting for clean water for 16 years. Two unsuccessful attempts have been made to build a well there. |
The story of Moale Village.
16 years ago, the Bayaka people thought they were going to get clean water.
Our local partner ICDI came to the village to build a hand-dug well. Together with the community, they took pick axes to the earth for four weeks, hoping to find water in the ground. They dug to 80 feet, 90 feet, 100 feet. Air was sent down in buckets to keep the diggers alive.
But not a drop was found.
Nine years later, ICDI returned, this time with a massive drilling rig. Excitement mounted as the drill reached 300 feet... 400 feet... and finally 500 feet. 500 was the maximum depth the drill rig could do and when it reached the bottom...
Again, no water.
The Bayaka of Moale have one more shot for a clean water source: ICDI has a new rig capable of reaching 700 feet, and charity: water will be there among the people of Moale Tuesday to broadcast the Live Drill.
